1. Put the emergency brake on and shift the car into neutral.
2. Take off the old knob; you can either use a wrench or unscrew it manually, counterclockwise.
3. Screw the new knob on directly (or fit it using any adapter required).

Just know your old knob's thread diameter before buying a new one -- that way, you'll be able to find a new one that fits just right. Your best bet: an OEM replacement.
